For a fact, Malay movies are really crappy. It’s a big disappointment for me. I’ve watched a lot of Malay movies, and I thought, “Hey, in time maybe they’ll get better, somehow or rather”. But after watching one of the new horror flicks last night…
God was I wrong.
Our film industry- total bollocks!
I don’t intend to be biased or anything, but seriously, our films, our movies, our stories…Its all nothing but a big joke. If its not love, its always about ghosts, or vice versa. The same thing over and over again, and please don’t tell me these are the only ideas that can be sold? If it is, then we are for certain doomed.
I’m not saying love and horror flicks are bad; just that personally I think there has to be a limit to it. Shoving stories only about love, the unseen and lame jokes just won’t expand our already narrowed minds. Movies and films should be able to educate too. Not make the audience much dumber than they already are- Though it is meant for entertainment, but still….
Why not start on producing films related to history and true events?
Why not emphasize on moral values?
Why not make something I would call smart humor?
Whatever happened to touching people’s emotions?
Whatever happened to making movies that would inspire others?
Most importantly, why not make movies that can actually educate our society?
Also every now and then we hear or read about producers expressing dissatisfaction about being incapable of producing high quality movies or films due to strict guidelines set by the censorship board. Can this really be the reason to why all Malay movies are so whack?
Can the censorship body be the main reason why Malay movies are so stupid?
Honestly, from a personal point of view, I don’t think so. If, whatever film presented was a good one, I don’t think the censorship board would have any reason to deny it from being screened to the public. But here’s the thing, all the movies presented were too crappy (for any decent public that is). So please, stop pointing fingers at each other. For once, take a look at what you have produced. Do you really think its’ satisfying? Better yet… is that what you call art?(How do you people sleep at night?)
It has also come to my attention that producers concentrate more on advertising instead of actually producing a good movie. I’ve watched a number of trailers and it’s a surprise how good these trailers are. I mean, the trailers are the main reason to why I go through the trouble of watching the movie. However, after watching the movie, I would go like “the trailer seems to make a better story than the actual movie. What a disappointment.” Every time…
Dear people in the film industry…
The trailer and the movie should be equally good!!
Here is another fact about our film industry, it lacks new faces. Its always the same line up. Sometimes, if you observe the posters (of Malay movies) carefully, you can see the same people (stars) on 5 different posters. Whats up with that? Even if there were new faces, most likely they will be given minor supporting roles. So minor you barely notice they were actually in the movie.
Frankly speaking, I am kind of getting sick watching the same face over and over again. Its not like they offer anything different in their other flicks. Its practically the same thing over and over again.
I tried to find a reason to why this is happening. Then it struck my mind- Could it be that our current actors and actresses are afraid of being replaced by the young and much more talented? Are they afraid of not being able to monopolize the market anymore? Whatever the reason is, I think its time to let go people. You are way overdue.
I don’t intend to offend anybody. I am trying so hard not to hate Malay movies but I can’t help it. It goes from bad to worse every time. And by any means, if any of you have any time to watch any of your so called movies with a normal crowd, observe. Notice the kind of people whom watches your movie. I’m not sure about you but what I saw was a bunch of idiots laughing hysterically at something I try so hard to persuade myself as funny. If you keep on producing movies as such, it will be like adding salt to a wound (does that term even exist?).
Please don’t. Movies play a big role in educating our society more than you think.
God help you people find a way...
